Sutton is a Borough in the south of London, 25 minutes from central London on the train, with a population of approximately 180,000 people.
The London Borough of Sutton is known as the ‘greener, cleaner Borough’, due to our commitment to preserving the environment for future generations. We adopted an environmental policy as long ago as 1986, and were the first UK Local Authority to gain EMAS accreditation.
We are involved in a number of EU funded projects with the aim of improving environmental sustainability.
One of the London Borough of Sutton’s five current corporate goals is the Promotion of Environmental Sustainability, with one of the objectives being to reduce the environmental impact of the Council’s use of materials and resources and promote greener alternatives in the community. We hope that participation in the LEAP project will assist the delivery of this goal.
